Chance of a Ghost

This one is in memory of a great and wonderful man– Phillip Miller.

Thank you, Roy, for copying this down for us. It is appreciated by all. From all of us, to you, Phil.

What the Cat Would Tell Us
by Phil Miller

The cat would tell us if he could
the art of dying is to live,
the art of living, choosing the right food.

We learn to balance, take and give
stare at each other, hold our fires
the art of dying is to live.

The cat watches us, soon tires,
falls asleep or watches something move
we stare at each other, hold our fires.

The cat chooses our world to love,
wonders why we don’t do the same,
he falls asleep or watches something move.

We measure our innocence and blame.
You stare at me. I stare at you.
The cat wonders why we don’t do the same

as he does. He’s busy making do.
The art of living, he chooses the right food.
You stare at me, I stare at you.
The cat would tell us if he could.

About bearicaquinn

Smallish, smushy in the sad parts, certainly destined for cat-lady-dom. Enjoys boats, bikes, black coffee, pug faces, sourdough bread, the morning when you have slept long enough, beards, mountainsides, art, rooftops, etc. Will continue to live in things that are interestingly shaped. So octopus.
