[equipped with our very own internet, featuring a modem and a router that we paid for, I am now sitting here drinking coffee, listening to Law & Order, and enjoying a quiet rainy morning in sweatpants and a flannel shirt of Jake’s I stole out of the please-god-let-me-give-things-away-pile…things are back to normal. also, I am musing that it will likely always smell like fried chicken here in Bed-Stuy. the blog continues.]
You’ve all met Tsi-Shi before, I’m certain of it.
This squinty-eyed meow-cat makes you work for his love, and when he saunters over to you, looks up with widening slits, and sniffs delicately in the general direction of your outstretched hand (so hard to play hard to get!), it makes it all so worth it.
He’s a beaut.
Our July trip to California was bookended by a combined nine glorious days of slug living at the casa de Jake’s parents. There were crossword puzzles and cups of strong coffee and late mornings and everything bagels….we may have even watched Birdemic. These days, which passed gauzily in a peaceful, decadent haze, were made even more meaningful by the presence of one Tsi-Shi cat, and his infrequent bouts of displayed love.
On the morning of our departure to points west, Tsi-Shi and Seamus forged an alliance in protest of our vacation plans…they were not pleased. I took this photograph of their efforts, which proved to be in vain, heart-wrenchingly so.
