Street Cats

It turns out that New York is OVERRUN with adorable, self-reliant kitties. Tyler has made me promise not to adopt all of them– as it is, they are happiest strutting alone, true wild cats, gang cats, kitties who eat rats and the kibble left out by each neighborhood’s old sympathetic lady population.

These are their stories.

Livin' the life.

Welcome to the city, where you can creep on a multitude of cats without even leaving your home/Law & Order bender. Gotta get me a telephoto lens!

I didn't know if you could clearly make out this big city lounger, so I very-helpfully drew a diagram.

Look at this kitty, riding the roof.

I swear I saw this guy inside this very window a few days later...indoor/outdoor cat? Or DOPPLEGANGER????

This big fella enjoys lying on the floor and, apparently, not much else.

Cat dungeon!

And, for the grand finale of all that is cute…

Here is a kitty who is not homeless, and who I’ve (unfortunately) not had the pleasure of meeting. Our good friend Nancy‘s daughter, Jaime, whom I can only assume to be equally rad, sent this little lady along– a recent cat visitor.

I can only imagine that she offered the finest company.

Her name is Sooty and her dad is in Germany for the month so she’s hanging out with us and hiding in ridiculous places. I don’t know what her hopes are, but I’m hoping she nabs a mouse or two and stops stalking the birds…

About bearicaquinn

Smallish, smushy in the sad parts, certainly destined for cat-lady-dom. Enjoys boats, bikes, black coffee, pug faces, sourdough bread, the morning when you have slept long enough, beards, mountainsides, art, rooftops, etc. Will continue to live in things that are interestingly shaped. So octopus.
