Since I have last written our landscape has changed- we traded ice-blue or grey ocean and low hanging fog for the open sky and scrubby greens that dot rocks and dust, giving way to the smoky purple and blue mountains that rise like the backs of animals in the distance.
Our time in California visiting Jake’s immediate and extended family has ended and now our exploration of New Mexico with my family has begun. Let me catch you up. Here are the visuals of the places we have been, and the cats we found there.

There will be more from the southwestern part of these journeys, more about coffee and enormous clouds and two in the bed and one on the floor, more about bagels with hummus and cucumbers, more about strings of chiles and sisters with dogs that slobber and grin, fathers with binoculars, mothers with flowered jammies, brothers with gentle same-smiles.
But that is for another day.
With love for you.
